Through a happy set of circumstances, Andrew had to be in Las Vegas for training on the day of Adelina’s first birthday. So we decided to make it a family trip and spend it with his parents! We had a great time, and of course it’s always nice to stay with family because it means less work for me ha ha. I’ll take full advantage of it when I can, which also means date nights!
But I digress. We kept our child alive an entire year! Yay us! And we love her so. She brings so much joy and laughter into our home. We did the whole “birthday party” and cake smash thing for her, which of course she really didn’t care about. Or rather, she eyed it suspiciously.
In fact she refused to eat the cake after sort of picking at it to figure out what was going on.
At least she liked the balloons. And hey, we made a pretty cute cake!
Then I just felt dumb and realized that trying to impose picture-perfect moments on a child who doesn’t care is pointless. So, lesson learned. I’m glad we got to spend the time with family though, and I made up for it by taking her to the park later that day.
And hey, she didn’t mind feeding it to her dad! Ha.
We loved letting her roam the park the day before when we took pictures, and watching her excitement at all the animals. It’s so wonderful to see the world through a child’s eyes, watching her discover everything.
Thanks for making us parents Adelina! And I can’t believe how much you’ve changed already… I hardly even recognize the tiny squirmy bundle that was handed to me that day!
Here’s to many more beautiful years with our happy girl, I can’t wait to get to know her better and see what else she has in store for us.
