Motherhood

The Weight of Motherhood

Few moments in motherhood are as perfect and magical as carrying a sleep-heavy toddler from the car into his bed for a well-deserved nap. The sweet, sweaty little head, the sighs and snuggling in close. When Jonas is slipping off to sleep he actually smiles, and it’s the dreamiest picture ♥️ ⁣⁣

This gig is exhausting and grinding and wears you down a lot of the time, but I’m grateful for the heaviness too, because it’s what gives us purpose, adds meaning to our life. It’s hard, but that doesn’t mean we’re doing it wrong, and most of all it’s something of infinite value. ⁣

A long time ago I read something about how we trade in the weightlessness of freedom and carefree, detached living for families that bind us to each other and, inevitably, can weigh us down. And snuggle those little ones extra close if you get a chance today, because it’s our well-deserved reward! ⁣

(Also, thanks to my sister for snapping this shot, if it weren’t for her I’d be in pretty much zero candid photos with my kids ha! PS: maternity overalls are heaven!)
